Disney World's New Skyliner Malfunctioned And Stranded Riders For Up To 3 Hours

October 7, 2019

Disney's new gondola system, The Skyliner, opened last weekend after extensive testing and renovations, but they can't plan for everything.

Due to an unexpected (I have to assume) malfunction, one route of the Skyliner caused a 'pile up' that resulted in some riders being stranded for up to 3 hours, 30 feet in the air.  Reports say that it only took 45 minutes for the fire crew to arrive after the initial incident, but of course it takes longer than that to properly evacuate people.

The route from Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort to EPCOT was where the malfunction took place.

Disney World will have The Skyliner closed until further notice while they try to figure out the cause.
