They were stealing toast and pooping everywhere.

You remember bars? I remember bars.

This is probably the first and only time that you'll hear the name of Yaraka, Queensland, Australia. The small, rural town has a population of around 120 people, off a single road due West of Brisbane. Some people call that "The Outback".  One of the benefits of being in such a remote location might be that their chances of being exposed to Coronavirus is low, so they don't have to worry about many things... like their bars being closed.

They do, however, have to worry about a couple of rowdy, troublesome emus causing problems in the local pub. The pair of emus are well known in the town because there are only 120 people, so what else is there to do? The owners of the Yaraka Hotel had installed a rope barrier previously, because Kevin and Carol (the emus, remember) kept coming inside and causing problems.

“They’ve been stealing things from the guests, especially their food. They’d stick their heads in and pinch toast out of the toaster,” said the owner Gerry Gimblet, “But the main reason we’ve banned them is their droppings. They’re enormous, very large and very smelly, and they created great stains." That seems fair.

To make sure they got the point across to Kevin and Carol, they installed a sign on the rope barrier that reads:

EMUS HAVE BEEN BANNED FROM THIS ESTABLISHMENT FOR BAD BEHAVIOUR
PLEASE LET YOURSELF IN THROUGH THE EMU BARRIER AND RECONNECT PLEASE!

That'll show 'em.
